eco friendly glasses & sustainable sunglasses

We like to do our bit to keep the planet green by stocking eco friendly glasses and you can’t get any more sustainable than vintage and preloved. Now your eyewear can be as planet friendly as the rest of your wardrobe.

shop latest styles

We’re an eco friendly business to our core, not only saving frames from landfill by refurbishing and restoring glasses for a new lease of life, we also plant a tree for every pair sold.

Shopping vintage

When you shop secondhand and vintage you’re not using up any of the planets precious resources - these items are already in existence and energy has already been consumed producing them. Perfectly good pieces can often be found languishing in drawers when they could be reworn for a second life. It’s a far more sustainable and eco friendly option.

We’re inspired by the artisans of yesterday and the craftsmanship that produced these, often handmade, beautiful frames from authentic design with classic shapes producing little waste. Quality designer and vintage frames were made to last.

repair, reuse and refurbish

To help our customers support the slow fashion movement and extend the life of their glasses, we offer a full range of repairs, reglazing and refurbishing services.

Peep Polish - our glasses and sunglasses restoration service - from oiling to polishing, this service removes scratches, general wear and restores lustre to give glasses frames a new lease of life.

Reglaze My Glasses - if your prescription has changed or you’ve scratched your lenses and still love your current eyewear. Don't throw them away, reuse your frames and reglaze your glasses with new lenses.

Glasses Repairs - if your glasses are in need of a little tlc we’re here for you. We can repair hinges, replace sides, nosepads and tips - we’ve even been known to remove dog bites.

every pair plants a tree

To balance our impact on the environment we’ve teamed up with Trees for Cities the tree planting charity, to plant trees here in the UK, where they’re need most, for every pair of ethical glasses or sunglasses sold.

Trees are vital to our ecosystem and remove tonnes of air pollution, including carbon dioxide, dust and other gaseous toxins.

From urban forests to the creation of edible playgrounds, Trees for Cities strengthen communities by creating green spaces through volunteering opportunities.

donate & recyle old glasses

Be part of a circular econmony and donate your old frames and we'll do good on your behalf by upcycling and restoring or recycling them and reusing their parts for glasses repairs.

Send us your vintage glasses or modern frames and you’ll receive a £10 voucher towards your next purchase from Peep.

Eco Friendly Packaging

All our packaging is sustainably sourced and fully compostable and recyclable.

Our packaging boxes are made from FSC certified recycled and recyclable card.

Packaging wrap/fillers we will always reuse any packaging where possible as it just makes good sense. Used boxes are shredded and turned into void fill to keep your eyewear perfectly preserved. This can be composted at home. We reuse or recycle all our eco friendly packaging and additional packaging sent into us by you and hope that you will too. All our Peep packaging is plastic free - on the rare occasion you find any plastic packaging in your delivery it will have been repurposed.

Our postcards are made from 100% post consumer reclaimed material FSC certified card with vegetable dye ink.

Cloths + Cases

Our glasses cleaning cloths are made from 100% recycled PET plastic bottles.

Our cases aren’t single use as we encourage the reuse of glasses cases. Our eco friendly, folding prescription glasses / sunglasses case is made from sustainable cardboard, fits most frame sizes and folds flat when not in use. And our vegan PU hard case is suitable for larger or interestly shaped frames.

Going green in the studio

We use a green renewable energy supplier, LED light bulbs and the studio itself was built from salvaged windows, doors and thrifted vintage furniture – we hope to install solar panels in the near future.

We use only thrifted vintage clothing and props for our styling and shoots.

Multiple recycling bins are used in the studio to separate out our waste that we cannot recycle or reuse.

OUr suppliers

As our core products are preloved we don’t work with as many suppliers as other businesses, but the small amount we do work with, we try to ensure minimum impact on the environment and the people making the products.

To the best of our ability and through third party verifications we ensure no forms of modern slavery, no child labour or forced labour, freedom of association and fair and equal pay. Our suppliers need to meet the highest ethical standards including SA8000 certifications and FSC certifications for wood. None of our materials are derived from or exploit animals.

It’s an ongoing work in progress, but we’re a small business so we can move quickly when we discover new greener solutions better for people and planet.

If you have any ideas on how we could go greener we’d love to hear them!
