Varifocal (Multifocal) Lenses – Custom-Made for Clear, Comfortable Vision

Varifocal lenses from £100. Choose from Everyday, Natural and Natural Luxe designs, with optional thinning, anti-reflection coatings and photochromic upgrades.

Varifocal lenses, also known as multifocal or progressive lenses, combine distance, intermediate and reading vision into a single pair of glasses, helping you see clearly at all distances without changing between multiple pairs.

Our varifocals are designed with smoother transitions between visual areas and optimised to reduce distortion. That means less “swim” — the dizzy-making movement some people notice when first wearing varifocals — and sharper, more natural vision for everyday life.

Each pair is specially made to fit both your prescription and your frame. We also take facial measurements and frame positioning into account to help place each visual zone precisely for your eyes.

How We Take Your Facial Measurements

We capture your frame fit and photo alignment to position each optical zone accurately, helping deliver the best possible comfort, clarity and adaptation.

All Peep varifocals come with a 30-day non-tolerance guarantee, giving you peace of mind while you adapt to your new lenses.

Varifocal, Multifocal and Progressive Lenses Explained

Varifocal lenses, also known as multifocal or progressive lenses, provide distance, intermediate and reading vision in one pair of glasses. Unlike bifocals, there are no visible lines. Instead, the prescription changes gradually through the lens, allowing smooth transitions between visual zones.

How Much Do Varifocal Lenses Cost?

Our varifocal lenses start from £100. Final pricing depends on your chosen lens design, coating, thinning option and whether you add light reactive technology. The price guide above shows the full range from Everyday Varifocal through to Natural Luxe with premium coatings and thinning options.

Can Varifocal Lenses Be Fitted Into My Existing Frame?

Yes. We can fit varifocal lenses into many existing frames, including designer, vintage and sentimental glasses. After placing your order, simply send your frame to us and we’ll check it before fitting your new lenses.

Which Varifocal Lens Is Right For Me?

Everyday Varifocal is the best value option. Natural Varifocal gives wider, more comfortable viewing areas. Natural Luxe is the best choice if you want the smoothest vision and easiest adaptation.

Varifocal Lens FAQs

Are varifocal and progressive lenses the same?

Yes. In the UK they are usually called varifocal lenses. Internationally they are often referred to as progressive lenses. Both describe lenses that gradually change from distance to reading vision.

What is the difference between varifocal and multifocal lenses?

Multifocal is a broader term covering lenses with more than one focus. Varifocals are a type of multifocal lens with a smooth progression between visual zones.

Will varifocals feel strange at first?

Some people notice slight edge movement or “swim” when first wearing varifocals. Modern lens designs significantly reduce this and most people adapt quickly.

What if I cannot get used to them?

All Peep varifocal lenses come with a 30-day non-tolerance guarantee, giving you peace of mind while adapting to your new lenses.

Can I drive in varifocal lenses?

Yes. Varifocal lenses are commonly used for driving, provided your prescription is suitable and you have adapted to the lenses.
