If the lens edge is chipped or the groove is damaged, we’ll advise options before we proceed (for example: light edge dressing, or lens replacement if needed).

Supra / nylon cord – FAQs

Do you replace the cord on both sides?

We replace the affected cord and check the other side. If it’s worn or brittle, we’ll recommend replacing both for balance and longevity.

Will the lens be secure after restringing?

Yes — we seat the lens properly, tension the cord correctly, and test the frame so it’s held firmly without stress points.

Can I choose clear or thicker cord?

We usually fit clear cord as standard. If you need a specific gauge/finish, add a note on the Check-In Form and we’ll confirm what’s available.

My lens has a chip near the edge — can you still restring it?

Sometimes. Small edge chips can be manageable, but larger chips can weaken the lens where the cord sits. We’ll inspect first and confirm before proceeding.

Is this for semi-rimless only?

Yes — this service is for semi-rimless / supra frames that use a nylon cord to hold the lens. For fully rimless/drilled mounts, use Rimless repairs.
